July 4th is a great time to get outside and spend some time with family and friends. For those who are hosting backyard gatherings this weekend, there often a lot of prep work involved when it comes to getting everything ready. Here are a few tips and tricks to making your home’s exterior more presentable.
- Power Wash Vinyl Siding. The siding on our homes in Massachusetts really take a beating. Be sure to grab a power washer or a hose with a powerful spray attachment and spray down your vinyl siding. While you’re washing it down, be sure to take a good look at the material; make sure it isn’t coming detached from the house or eroding. If so, you may need to call a professional for a repair.
- Clean Gutters & Downspouts. There’s nothing more embarrassing than having a drainage problem in your backyard. Carefully clean out your gutters and downspouts with a power hose or feel free to put on some garden gloves and get up on a ladder. If you notice that your gutters are in rough shape, it’s probably a good time to invest in replacement gutters and downspouts for more effective drainage.
- Switch to a Screen Door. It’s safe to say that the warm weather will be with us for at least a couple months, so why not switch out your storm door for a screen door this summer? Screen doors are great for a July 4th party because you’ll be able to keep an eye on your guests outside while meal prepping inside. Don’t have one yet? Bay State Exteriors can quickly install a brand new screen door for you.
